Beyond Shalom
Formerly URJ Press #540660
In many Reform congregations, one of the most crucial roles is greeting and responding to callers, both Jews and non-Jews, both members and strangers. This responsibility usually falls onto the administrative and support staff. The receptionist, administrative assistant, rabbi’s secretary and religious school secretary are in essence the face and voice of the congregation. No matter what their personal background and knowledge of Judaism, their ability to respond with understanding and to answer and refer questions appropriately is the beginning of effective outreach and membership cultivation.
This guide is a necessary learning tool for all synagogue staff.
