Even with its risks, there is much evidence that marijuana may be beneficial in treating certain diseases. However, there is also evidence of the dangers involved in marijuana use. Judaism requires us to be law-abiding citizens, including any laws prohibiting the use of controlled substances, but on the other hand, Judaism believes in the inherent sanctity of human life. LESSON AT A GLANCE: Although marijuana is illegal in most places, some states in the United States are legalizing marijuana use to treat certain diseases and symptoms. In this lesson, students consider whether marijuana is harmful to the body or conducive to health, then stage a talk show to play out the debate.
