Behrman House Ordering, Shipping, and Delivery Information
ALERT: Due to COVID-related staffing shortages at our partner warehouse, it is taking longer to process orders for shipment. As of early August, has been taking two to three weeks to pick and pack orders for shipment. This has continued into early September. We apologize for this inconvenience at such a critical time of year, and remain grateful for your patience.
While the warehouse is working to catch up, they have temporarily suspended all expedited shipping, including next day, 2nd day and 3-day options in order to concentrate on fulfilling all existing orders as soon as possible.
We have many digital and multi-access resources to help tide you over for the first weeks of school. Please be in touch and we will help work out an interim solution for you and your teachers and students.

Orders may be placed online anytime or by phone at 800-221-2755 or 973-379-7200 from 9 am-5 pm Monday through Friday, excluding religious and national holidays.
Email orders are also accepted for organizations with an active credit account in good standing, upon verification of the order.
Invoices are generated at the time of order processing and emailed immediately. For individuals, invoices will be emailed directly to the email address listed on your account. For organizations with an open account, invoices will be sent directly to the email address of the primary contact person listed with your account.
Orders to continental US addresses paid by credit card or charged to open organizational accounts in good standing are processed for shipment within one business day, and typically ship the NEXT business day.
International orders and those destined for Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico must be confirmed by the customer via email once we have provided an estimate of shiping costs. If you have questions about your international order, pleae contact Customer Support.
Orders on open organizational credit accounts that are in arrears will be placed on credit hold until the account is cleared. If you have a question about your account, please contact our bookkeeper.
Shipping and Delivery
Shipping and Delivery is the charge for internet order processing, item selection, packaging, transport, and handling. Shipping and Delivery charges are subject to change and are determined when you order.
We offer two shipping methods:
- UPS (Ground, Next Day, etc): your order is automatically tracked and insured up to $100. You will receive a tracking number for your UPS shipment when your order is shipped. We strongly recommend using the UPS option.
- USPS Media Mail: this is a lower cost mailing option suited for one or two items. These shipments are NOT tracked or insured for loss or failure to deliver. We cannot replace lost USPS Media Mail shipments.
All orders are shipped from Ashland, Ohio 44805. Although we do not guarantee delivery times on standard UPS shipments, we do our best to provide accurate estimates.You can get an estimate of UPS shipping time by using the interactive UPS map here.
Due to delays created by COVID-related staffing shortages around the country, please allow extra time for processing your order before beginning to count ship days, even for expedited orders.
We process orders during regular business hours, Monday through Friday (excluding holidays).
Deliveries occur only on weekdays. If you refuse your shipment or if your order is returned to us after unsuccessful delivery attempts, we will consider the merchandise returned. Your account will be credited for the items, less the amount of shipping both ways and a restocking fee. Important: YOU MUST use a street address for UPS shipments. UPS will NOT ship to addresses that use PO Boxes. If you place an order that cannot be delivered because you used a PO Box, UPS will simply return it to us, and we will have to charge you again to ship the package, plus a return shipment fee.
Sorry, we cannot provide pick up from our New Jersey location. We no longer have books on-site in our editorial offices.
