Finally—the online b’nai mitzvah study tool you’ve been waiting for is here.

Today’s Torah: Parashat HaShavua Online offers easy online access to listen, read, and practice every Torah portion, with options that let you customize the experience that works best for your setting and your learners. It is simple for clergy and staff to set up, works on all devices, and is available by subscription in a variety of packages to make it affordable whether you have two students or two hundred in your program.

We recommend Today’s Torah as an online supplement to our Parashat Hashavua booklets, which provide summaries, commentary, and the relevant haftarah for each Torah portion, which are not included in the online tool.

Using Today’s Torah your b’nai mitzvah students can:

• • Listen to their Torah portion chanted in the trope style you prefer:  Binder/Avery,  Jerusalem/Sephardic, or recordings specific for your synagogue that you upload yourself.
• • See their Torah portion in Hebrew, English, or Hebrew with English translation.
• • Progress in reading their Torah portion from using trope marks and vowels, to reading without trope marks or vowels, to practicing using the actual Torah font (tikkun style).
• • Practice individual verses using the font size that is easiest for them to read.
• • Work on their chanting from anywhere—even in the car on the way to meet with the cantor!

Today’s Torah allows clergy and staff flexibility to:

• • Add students and assign Torah portions to them in several simple, straightforward steps.
• • Easily remove students who have completed their studies and fill those spots with incoming students.
• • Choose the specific verses you want to assign to each student, from as few as two verses to the entire Torah portion. Your student will see only the verses you assign.
• • Assign just a few verses at first and then, if desired, add more as the student progresses.
• • Designate one of the two provided chanting styles or upload your own recordings for your students to use.
• • Manage your own recordings with ease. Your recordings are private and will stay in your account for as long as you wish. They can be made available to multiple students. You can upload up to 3GB of mp3 files (enough for 5,852 verses).
• • Make a recording of your own using a link to a free online voice recorder.
• • Send students simple-to-use links direct to their own Torah portions for practice.
• • Provide colleagues and staff access to help manage the account, and/or to work with individual students on their specific portions.

Today’s Torah is available in eight different subscriber options, depending on the number of active students you have in your program each year to keep this unique tool affordable. Your subscription begins on the date you place your order and is good for one year. During that time you can remove students who have completed their program and fill those spots with new students.

Be sure to log into your account at behrmanhouse.com (or create one!) before purchasing Today’s Torah. The subscription will live in your account, and you will manage it from there.

Choose the package that best matches the number of ACTIVE students you expect to have at one time over the coming year. Add to your cart and pay. Your subscription will be added to your account automatically.

Subscription packages available:

• • 2 students - $50 per year
• • 5 students - $75 per year
• • 10 students - $150 per year
• • 15 students - $225 per year
• • 20 students - $300 per year
• • 35 students - $525 per year
• • 50 students - $750 per year
• • 100 students - $1000 per year

Again, each subscription is for the number of ACTIVE students for that year; as students complete their study, you can reassign those spots at no additional charge during the subscription year. Subscriptions begin on the date of purchase, are active for 12 months, and are renewable each year. You do not need subscriptions for staff or colleagues who are working with your students. Today’s Torah is available ONLY at BehrmanHouse.com.

When your subscription period ends, (one year from original purchase), you will see a link to purchase a new subscription at BehrmanHouse.com.

When you renew, you can purchase the same level subscription OR you can change to a larger or smaller one depending on the number of students you expect. Enter the order number from that purchase into your Today’s Torah page to reactivate your subscription. Today’s Torah will adjust the number of active students allowed. All your recordings and student assignments will still be there.

IMPORTANT: if you purchase multiple subscriptions, you will need to manage multiple, separate online accounts. They cannot be linked, so it is best to get the package that best matches your actual number of active students. If your program grows, you can increase the number of students when you renew. If you have fewer students, you can renew with a smaller subscription package.

To find your subscription, log in to store.behrmanhouse.com and click on ACCOUNT at the top of the homepage and go to MY DOWNLOADABLE PRODUCTS on the left side of the page.

Find Today’s Torah and click REGISTER. This will provide a link you can then use to access your subscription online. This is where you will manage your students, the Torah portions to assign, and the sound library. Bookmark this link and share it with any colleagues or staff who will need to work with the online resource. (you will not need to return to the ACCOUNT page on the Behrman House website in order to continue to use your subscription.)

As you set up students in Today’s Torah and assign their Torah portions, you can share a link or QR code to each to give them access.
