Last week, David Behrman and Vicki Weber received the Distinguished Educators Award from the ARJE, an award that "honors those who embody the values of ARJE and make significant contributions to Reform Jewish education."
Under David and Vicki's leadership, Behrman House cemented its position as the leading publisher serving the Jewish educational community with over 800 titles in print covering subjects such as history, holidays, values, Bible, and Hebrew, and adult trade books for readers seeking to explore Jewish thought and learning. And for the last decade, they have continued to foster Jewish education and values through Apples & Honey Press, which currently has over 180 children's books in print. In their retirement, they leave behind a legacy that honors their dedication to Behrman House over their decades of work.
As the ARJE writes, "What truly distinguishes Vicki and David is their generosity of spirit and real care and concern for our ecosystem. They have created a network where people feel they belong, and their compassion and kindness have left a lasting mark on the ARJE community. Together, David Behrman and Vicki Weber have grown more than a publishing legacy – they have built a model of what it means to lead a field with vision, care, and purpose. Their work reminds us that Jewish education is not only about content, but about people – the relationships we build, the stories we hear from them along the way, and the futures we co-create together."
Congratulations to them for this honor and for their retirement!
