"Language is a key to identity and culture, and Hebrew is a key to Jewish identity and Jewish culture. We just have to approach it as such." So writes Jeremy Benstein, the linguist and cultural anthropologist and author of the newly released Hebrew Roots, Jewish Routes: A Tribal Language in a Global World.

We are pleased to announce that Alef Davis is joining us this summer as an editorial intern.
She is a budding writer, and was an editor of both the literary magazine and an undergraduate research journal at Drew University. She has also worked as a classroom assistant at Temple Ohr Shalom religious school in New Jersey. She is curious about every aspect of publishing, has already made friends with Ivan, our house dog, and we look forward to working with her this summer.
As a paid editorial intern, she will be learning and doing many of the following:
• Assisting editors with manuscript editing, art direction, photo research, and writing for a wide variety of projects
• Participating fully in Creative Team meetings and brainstorming sessions
• Reviewing manuscript submissions
• Learning about and helping with tagging photos in our database, cutting sound files, and other behind-the-scenes digital work
• Learning about every aspec

We are pleased to announce that Mindy Strauss has joined Behrman House as our full time bookkeeper. She handles all accounts payable, credit memos, and general office bookkeeping tasks.
Mindy has a background in banking and comes to us after several years at home raising her two children, and has been an active volunteer at her temple and children's school. She loves mah jongg, the Yankees, and her dog Timmy. She is conscientious and kind and fits right in with our team in our New Jersey home base. We are very happy to have her as a colleague.
